Bowland Ecology was commissioned, following competitive tender, by Lancashire County Council to undertake peat probing and surveys of areas of deep peat (4872ha) within the Forest of Bowland AONB that have either never been surveyed or baseline data is lacking. This included desktop survey, including a review of habitats and review of data in existing studies. Following completion of the first tranche of survey Bowland Ecology were directly awarded extensions to the survey and have separately been commissioned by the Abbeystead Estate to carry out further peat probing, topographical drone survey, vegetation survey and management planning on part of their estate. Subsequent commissions have include drone surveys, installation of dip wells and monitoring and R&D based invertebrate project.
