Bowland Ecology was commissioned to undertake ecological surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain and an ecological assessment to support an outline planning application for up to 200 new homes, including affordable homes, with the remaining 80% of the site made available as public open space in perpetuity. Ecological surveys included habitat surveys and a wide range of species surveys. Bowland Ecology also prepared an Outline Landscape Ecology and Management Plan than demonstrated that the development can deliver >10% BNG. Following refusal of the outline planning application in December 2022, a planning appeal was submitted and in January 2024 the Planning Inspectorate granted outline planning permission for up. Bowland Ecology prepared expert evidence and appeared at the Planning Inquiry. Following the Inquiry the Planning Inspectorate granted outline permission.
