Bowland Ecology have been commissioned both directly with the Environment Agency and also with Jacobs to undertake ecological surveys at Groundwater Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystems (GWDTE) sites in England. This project forms part of a national surveillance programme for groundwater dependent terrestrial ecosystems (GWDTE) to enable a robust assessment of England’s environment using a national capital approach. The projects have involved surveying Eight SSSI sites including Cheshire, Midlands, Thames Region and East Anglia. The surveys were undertaken by our in house botanical specialist (Level 5 & Level 4 FISC) with specific technical survey requirements including targeted NVC communities. A key focus was to identify the types of groundwater dependent plant communities at each site. Reports with supporting spreadsheets and GIS files are the main outputs of the project.
